This is a massive wine with refined edges. The initial impression is an explosive nose of dark fruit, tobacco and spice, but when it hits your palate, you realize that it is not your average Syrah. After spending over three years in barrel, the wine has shed most of its youthful tannins and has become a wave of super-concentrated liquid velvet. It envelops your tongue and caresses the roof of your mouth. The finish builds from the first sip, and eventually lingers for nearly a minute where the flavors develop hints of roasted meats and espresso bean. ~ Russell Bevan, Winemaker
