Winemaker's tasting note:
The 2009 Westerhold Family Vineyards Extended Barrel Aged Syrah shows the intensity of mid-palate that comes from extra barrel aging. It has an intense core of blackberry and black fruits that gives way to hints of cedar and a little kiss of vanilla bean. On the palate, you get exactly what extended barrel aging is designed for - very long, velvety textures. It has lively acidity, but the tannins are so very supple and decadent. In the glass, it opens up quickly and reveals hints of slow roasted meats and a kiss of fine Cuban tobacco. ~ Russell Bevan, Winemaker
