Winemaker's tasting note:
The 2012 Westerhold Family Vineyards Pinot Noir showcases the qualities that make California Pinot Noir special. The nose has classic red fruit scents of cherry and raspberry, but as the fruit pulls you in, the tea and spice aromatics take over. When you take your first sip, the wine's Bennett Valley pedigree shows itself - it is full bodied, but the texture is silky and plush. You get the beautiful fruit flavors that you would expect from the nose, but then there are hints of roasted meat, forest floor and cloves that develop over the long, nuanced finish. This is a refined, polished Pinot Noir with acidity to keep it lively, which makes it perfect to pair with duck or salmon. ~ Russell Bevan, Winemaker
