Winemaker's tasting note:
The 2012 Westerhold Family Vineyards Syrah personifies the heart of Syrah. White pepper and roasted meat aromatics scream from the glass and eventually give way to cherry and berry, but they do not go gently. As you look into the glass, the wine's dark color pulls you further in. As you taste the wine it starts with an initial nudge to the palate, but the tannins and acids build quickly and show its intensity and verve. It begs to be opened on a cold day next to bowl of beef stew. The acid keeps it lively, assuring that it will cut through even the heartiest of dishes. ~ Russell Bevan, Winemaker
